Baisley Pond Park Restoration

Restoring a historic site in New York

ecological restoration and habitat design of Baisley pond

Project Details

As part of the Nancy Owens Studio team, Great Ecology provided ecological guidance on the restoration of the Department of Park and Recreation’s 30-acre Baisley Pond Park—one of the oldest artificial bodies of water on Long Island.  Great Ecology completed a wetland delineation and ecological assessment of the site, provided recommendations related to restoration, protection, and enhancement of the wetland habitats and upland forests, and consulted on stormwater management strategies. Great Ecology also provided recommended actions on creating wildlife attraction features and public environmental education opportunities.
