Ferry Point Waterfront Park Restoration

Ecological planning and design of a vibrant public space in New York City

ecological restoration and design of ferry point waterfront park

Project Details

As part of the Thomas Balsley Associates team, Great Ecology led the habitat and wetland restoration, mitigation planning, and permitting for the development of a NYC Parks Department Eco-Park that restores native ecosystems of the East River waterfront in the Bronx. Great Ecology provided ecological designs for the restoration and creation of grasslands, maritime shrublands, mudflats, rocky intertidal habitat and tidal salt marsh. In addition, Great Ecology planned intertidal wetland restoration to offset other NYC Parks Department project-related impacts and offsite subtidal impacts, and provided native species recommendations, restoration and maintenance guidelines, technical drawings, and specifications.
