Ecological planning for a historically sensitive site

habitat restoration of sand point masterplan in New York

Project Details

Great Ecology was part of the Beyer Blinder Belle master planning team on the restoration of Sands Point Preserve. Great Ecology contributed to the environmental and ecological restoration components of the project by developing a pond management plan, habitat enhancement/ecological design guidelines, and educational signage for the 216 acre Preserve. The early-1900s Gold Coast estate included two castles, two early-twentieth-century manor homes, a mile of direct beachfront on Long Island Sound, six hiking trails, and natural history exhibits. Great Ecology also provided support on the environmental permitting process.
