- Waterfront: East River
- Key Restoration: Historical Ecosystems
- Site Size: 450 acres
Great Ecology led the habitat and wetland restoration, mitigation planning, and permitting for the development of the Ferry Point Waterfront ecological park for the NYC Parks Department that restores historical ecosystems of the East River waterfront in the Bronx. As part of the Thomas Balsley Associates team, Great Ecology provided ecological designs for the restoration and creation of grasslands, maritime shrublands, mudflats, rocky intertidal habitat, and tidal salt marsh. Great Ecology also planned intertidal wetland restoration to offset other NYC Parks Department project-related impacts and offsite subtidal impacts, and provided native species recommendations, restoration and maintenance guidelines, technical drawings, and specifications.
