July 20, 2013Just When You Thought It Was Safe to Go In the Water…
July 26, 2013The significant part of the environmental remediation of the redevelopment area at a former chemical manufacturing site in Woodbridge, New Jersey is complete! Woodbridge Mayor, John McCormac was thrilled to share the project’s progress as it highlights the importance and dedication towards the clean-up and revitalization efforts of the area. The site is part of the Keasbey Redevelopment Zone which was classified as a Brownfield Development Area in 2009 by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection.
The site redevelopment will bring ecological and economic benefits including the Woodbridge Waterfront Park, a 100-acre environmental and recreational park along the Raritan River. Great Ecology joined project partners including EPEC Polymers, the Brownfields Development Area Steering Committee, the Woodbridge Redevelopment Agency, Brown and Caldwell, USA Environment, and others to celebrate the completion of this stage. Great Ecology is leading the design and permitting of the waterfront park which will reintroduce the native habitat and wildlife to area as well as public access to the Raritan River for the first time in over 100 years. Today, construction of the site’s largest wetland area, the southern wetland area is well underway – an exciting stage for the complex and multi-year project.
