Ecological Design and Planning Intern
Great Ecology is seeking a landscape designer or planner to work with our team of scientists and designers as an intern for the Summer of 2024. This paid, temporary position will be in-person at our office in San Diego, California. This position will challenge the intern to tackle a research topic for about half of their time, while supporting project tasks in their remaining time. The research topic will be selected by the leadership team, with consideration of the intern’s skills and interests. Project tasks may include (but are not limited to!) participating in design charettes, drafting construction drawings, creating maps and figures, and joining biologists for field work efforts at project sites in southern California.

Environmental Compliance Monitor
Great Ecology is seeking applications for on-call Environmental Compliance Monitors for a large construction project in Imperial Valley, CA. Environmental Compliance Monitors will monitor and report on a variety of pre-construction and construction activities to ensure compliance with biological regulations and regulatory permit requirements. This position is on-call, but may require up to 35 hours per week of field-based work. Work may begin as early as April.

Conservation Ecologist
Great Ecology is looking for an early to mid-career conservation ecologist who will play a pivotal role in conducting in-depth feasibility studies and developing management plans for targeted terrestrial and marine protected areas, as well as capacity building for protected area planners. This position requires a blend of field work, analytical expertise in collecting and assessing ecological data (including spatial data, using GIS), and proficiency in drafting technical reports. The successful candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including social scientists, to ensure conservation strategies are inclusive of socioeconomic assessments and aligned with IUCN guidelines.

Great Ecology is looking for a natural resource-focused Regulatory & Permitting Specialist to join an interdisciplinary team of scientists and landscape architects working on restoration and natural resource management projects throughout the United States. This position is for a mid-career to senior-level staff member in our San Diego office, but will assist with regulatory document preparation, project management, and business development company-wide.
