Associate Ecologist & GIS Specialist

Dan Marsden

Dan is an environmental scientist who specializes in GIS analysis and mapping, conservation planning, and resource monitoring.
Dan previously worked for Kachemak Heritage Land Trust as the stewardship coordinator and GIS Specialist, performing an array of program management support and GIS-related tasks. He spent a large amount of time in many remote and often rugged areas of the backcountry for field data collection, compliance monitoring, and restoration activities.
In 2018, Dan graduated from Alma College with a degree in Environmental Science and Biology. As a research assistant, Dan studied how plant-soil feedback mechanisms and physical conditions affect tree species community dynamics in a deciduous forest ecosystem.
Driving operational and organizational change through the power of technology, Dan has implemented solutions to improve efficiency and reporting measures on key deliverables through third-party software services and GIS-related capabilities.
He has volunteered his time as a youth soccer coach, climate and sustainability advocate, and an AmeriCorps volunteer in South Lake Tahoe, CA.
