Carolyn Matthews, MA

Carolyn is an ecologist and arborist with over 10 years of experience in New York and New England and seven years in leadership positions. She performs a range of ecological assessments in coastal and inland areas to prepare site feasibility analyses, develop mitigation plans and prepare permit applications for local, state, and federal agencies.  She regularly collaborates with clients and project team members to develop restoration and management plans for natural resources.
Earlier in her career, Carolyn was the NYC Area Manager for an Urban Forestry & Natural Resource Consulting company. She has an extensive background as a project manager overseeing various projects throughout the New York City metro area. She established relationships with local partners to develop and manage projects such as invasive species eradication programs, tree inventories and risk assessments, storm management response, pollinator habitat installations, ecological restoration, and developing urban forestry management plans. Carolyn has also taught as an adjunct faculty member at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT.
Carolyn holds a master’s degree in Forest Ecology and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Conservation Biology from Clark University in Worcester, MA.
