Associate Ecologist

Jon Green

Jon is a restoration ecologist with two decades of experience managing large-tract conservation lands and complex environmental projects. His areas of expertise include habitat restoration, invasive species removal, trail building and design, as well as business development and stakeholder engagement. Coming from a background in the land trust community, Jon brings a unique perspective to his conservation strategies and project management. He has long history of engaging local communities, agencies, and private landowners in conservation and preservation of natural and cultural resources. Jon’s experience in resource management and habitat restoration has spanned from the taiga forest in Siberia to the bi-state tributaries of Lake Tahoe to the Sonoran Desert in Imperial Valley, California.
As a volunteer and community leader, Jon served for several years on the Board of Directors for the Greater Alpine Fire Safe Council, working on brush management zones, defensible space creation, and community-scale firebreaks and fuel reduction projects. He has led semi-annual creek cleanups with I Love A Clean San Diego for nearly a decade, and organized the annual Point-in-Time Count of unsheltered individuals in his community with the Regional Taskforce for the Homeless. In 2019, Jon was nominated for Citizen of the Year in Alpine, CA, and the same year won the Community Enhancement Award for working with a variety of local agencies and private landowners to secure funding, design, and implement a community-scale tree planting program that included main-street urban landscaping and school-campus native plant gardens.
