Woodbridge Waterfront Park Restoration

Innovative ecological restoration design of a large industrial site

Project Details

Great Ecology is  the ecological consultant for a 185-acre Brownfield to Greenfield project on the Raritan River in New Jersey. Great Ecology developed, planned, permitted, and implemented an intricate mitigation strategy that included performing multiple wetland functional analyses, designing more than 100 acres of wetland enhancement and creation, conducting extensive stakeholder outreach, and filing comprehensive state and Federal wetland and land use permits. The firm designed a system of trails and boardwalks providing Woodbridge Township public access to the Raritan River for the first time in a century. Great Ecology also provided Natural Resource Damage (NRD) strategy and advice while working extensively with non-profit organizations, neighbors, multiple government agencies and municipal planners. Great Ecology also is the mitigation consultant for a proposed 40-acre mitigation bank on adjacent sites.
