We are excited to announce Sean Bergquist, M.E.M. as our new Principal Ecologist at Great Ecology’s San Diego office. Sean will be leading all projects on the west coast, and managing the day to day operations of our San Diego office.

As an environmental scientist and manager Sean Bergquist has over a decade of experience designing, implementing and managing complex environmental projects and research.  Mr. Bergquist was formerly the Co-Director of the Center for Santa Monica Bay Studies, a partnership of Loyola Marymount University and the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Foundation, which supports multidisciplinary research on environmental and social issues affecting Santa Monica Bay and its watershed. Mr. Bergquist was responsible for all activities of the Center, including directing research, identifying funding sources, and reporting to the advisory board. As an integral part of the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission, a California government agency, Mr. Bergquist was the Director of Watershed Programs where he was responsible for restoration and protection of streams and wetlands of the Santa Monica Bay and its watersheds.

Throughout his career, Mr. Bergquist has proven to be both flexible and innovative, while maintaining a high level of accountability and integrity in his application to the field of ecological restoration. Mr. Bergquist has been a faculty member at Loyola Marymount University and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where he taught courses on ecological restoration, environmental science and sustainability, and introduces students to field and laboratory research methodology.
