We are thrilled to share that the Sanderson Gulch Channel Improvement project in Denver, CO has been awarded the 2020 CASFM Engineering Excellence Award! Great Ecology served as the ecological designer and implemented an innovative pilot study using wood chips as a weed control mechanism, resulting in substantial growth of native plantings and effective weed control. The channel improvement removed 107 parcels and 102 structures from the regulatory floodplain, reducing flood risk for many businesses and residents in the area, and providing water quality improvements.
