Great Ecology Secures First Ever NYSDEC Permit for Coastal Erosion Solution

Great Ecology and EcoShore International are thrilled to announce we've secured a New York State Department of Conservation (NYSDEC) permit to install Pressure Equalizing Modules (PEMs) for our Lazy Point pilot project near East Hampton, NY. This is the first PEM permit ever issued by the NYSDEC, as well as the first issued in the Northeast US by any governing body. The most recent permit for PEM installation in the US was issued over a decade ago. PEMs are an innovative erosion control device that aids in beach drainage and this pilot project will ultimately serve as a proof of concept for halting and reversing erosion for certain types of beaches. Great Ecology has also secured a permit from the trustees of the Town of East Hampton for PEM installation.
