Camp Ramah Fire Restoration & Clean-Up Plan

Ojai, CA

Camp Ramah’s backcountry was devastated by the Thomas Fire, which scorched thousands of acres of forest and scrub habitat in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Great Ecology prepared a restoration and clean-up plan for the Camp Ramah property, conducting both remote and onsite field assessments to understand the scope of the damage. Our team also interviewed staff personnel to understand the most important resources for Camp Ramah, their priorities, and the Camp’s overall values. In addition, staff performed a field mapping exercise to help the camp understand recently-uncovered trail resources and where they may need to put efforts toward trail restoration and/or maintenance. Great Ecology synthesized all of this data into a plan that provided a clear path forward to focus restoration efforts and partner with local stakeholders to enhance community relations and ensure the efforts to restore Ramah and make the region more resilient were recognized.
