Pollinator Habitat Recommendations
In collaboration with the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC), Great Ecology conducted an ecological evaluation for BASF's 268-acre North American Headquarters site in Florham Park, NJ to identify pollinator habitat enhancement opportunities that would meet the WHC's Conservation Certificate criteria - an award providing third party credibility of a company's meaningful habitat improvement and conservation programs. BASF has a long history of implementing habitat enhancements at company facilities around the world, and obtaining a WHC Conservation Certificate for their Florham Park headquarters was the first step in a larger plan to enhance pollinator and wildlife habitat at facilities across the US.
Great Ecology's enhancement recommendations provided habitat for pollinator species, including the rare Long Dash butterfly, and integrated into the site's master plan of LEED certified buildings, expansive open space, walking trails, and a wet meadow for stormwater recharge. In collaboration with the WHC, BASF staff implemented the project as part of a company volunteer event on Earth Day 2016.
