Scenic Hudson Riverwalk Park

Great Ecology joined the RGR Landscape team on the design and construction administration of the Scenic Hudson RiverWalk Park located north of the Tappan Zee Bridge. Great Ecology contributed to the Park’s “eco-corridor”, one section of the waterfront esplanade offering access to the River’s edge as well as spectacular views of the Hudson and Manhattan skyline. Great Ecology developed planting palettes that included grasses and salt-tolerant shrubs, designed swales specific for stormwater management and ecological functionality, and contributed to the design of environmental education opportunities in the Park. In addition, Great Ecology collaborated with RGR on the redesign of nearby Andre Brook. The restoration converted the channel and stream with concrete culverts into a regraded tidal wetland with flood storage capacity and aquatic habitat.
