Great Ecology was contracted to develop a conceptual ecological restoration strategy for over 500 acres of land surrounding the former Schwartzwalder Mine, once the largest uranium mine in the United States. This strategy focused on ecological vitality, and beauty and richness, while encouraging adaptive and low impact development. Great Ecology developed renderings that included planned features such as restored wetlands and a natural surface walking path alongside Ralston Creek. Previous redevelopment planning envisioned for the site included the potential addition of a luxury residence and ranch with additional habitat restoration plans identified throughout the site. As part of a separate scope of work, Great Ecology also assessed the current conditions of an upland mitigation area onsite as part of compliance with USACE 404 permitting.
