Project Summary:

The Mile High Flood District and Adams County are leading a coalition of municipalities along the South Platte River (SPR) in developing a long-term vision for this regionally significant river corridor. Great Ecology along with Biohabitats is providing ecological planning and assessment support to the project team led by Design Workshop with engineering and geomorphology support from Muller Engineering, Merrick, and ERC. Pinyon Environmental is providing brownfield assessments and planning along the 17-mile stretch through Adams County. The goal of the SPR Vision Plan is to create a more connected and ecologically functional river corridor for all to enjoy. The South Platte River Vision Plan extends through Arapahoe and Denver Counties on its way to Adams County. This regional planning effort will guide the way for ecological restoration, recreation, and development into the future and will serve as a guidepost on how to return the SPR to a higher functioning river while still balancing the needs of our communities.
