South Platte River Vision Planning & Assessment

Adams County, CO

The Mile High Flood District and Adams County led a coalition of municipalities along the South Platte River (SPR) in developing a long-term vision for this regionally significant river corridor. Great Ecology provided ecological planning and assessment support to the project team. The goal of the SPR Vision Plan was to create a more connected and ecologically functional river corridor for all to enjoy. The South Platte River Vision Plan extends 17 miles through Arapahoe and Denver Counties on its way to Adams County. This regional planning effort will guide the way for ecological restoration, recreation, and development into the future and will serve as a guidepost on how to return the SPR to a higher functioning river while still balancing the needs of our communities.
